I Hope It Was Worth It!

I don’t know about anyone else, but I often find Holy Week very sad and upsetting, especially Good Friday. When I try to imagine all that Jesus went through during His final week in this world, my heart truly breaks and I question “why”?….. Why? The question plagues my mind. Why did this loving, caring, compassionate being have to endure so much? Why? Did He really have to be treated so badly? Did He absolutely have to be severely beaten, bruised, humiliated, spat on, heckled, ridiculed, tortured, and then crucified? Wasn’t there any other way?
Then I also wonder, was it worth it? Was it really worth it at all? I mean, have we really learned anything – how to treat each other better, and how to forgive? Do we yet know how to love unconditionally and to love so much that we would do anything we possibly could for anyone? I don’t mean just those we know, love and care about. I mean ANYONE we encounter? Do we even come remotely close to doing that?

Home Office

Today I was asked about my home office. So here it is…..

Hours Regained (but may be temporary)

Ok, so it goes like this….. As of April 1, (no joke) I have my “work Place Attendant (WPA)” hours back, “temporarily.” Apparently our Department of Community Services provides WPA support for “employment” but not for “self-employment”. However in my case, they’re willing to meet and “see what can be figured out.”

Many folks now know that I’ve started Disability Pride (.net) with the goal of it becoming revenue generating. I am beyond ecstatic that both the blog and the fb fan page is already getting such a favourable response. The fb page already has almost 30 followers and that happened in less than 24 hours!!!! Wow man, that’s mind blowing to me! I am so appreciative for all the support and love already shown to me and this venture. You guys are AWESOME!!!!!

Now, as with any venture, in order to be considered a “success” there needs to be evidence of demand and growth. In this case, increasing readership demonstrates demand and growth.

Georgie

I’m always glad when I read Facebook posts and such about kids with disabilities who are very much loved, accepted and cared for. Such stories often remind me that it wasn’t always this way, and then I remember Georgie…..

In 1975, (the morning after my 16 th birthday) somewhere in amongst the institution’s relocation to its new building, plus an additional 30 or so kids, appeared Georgie.

From what seemed like the first second of any awareness of him, wherever Georgie was, trouble always accompanied him. They were inseparable. You never got one without the other, no matter how hard you tried.
